Information & Charges 2025

Members can take up to 20 books for 3 weeks. Items may be renewed up to 20
times online, via telephone, using the app or by visiting your local library.
Items taken from a Northamptonshire library can be returned at all
Northamptonshire Libraries

Late Fees – Books

If a book is returned late (after 3 weeks), books are charged per book, per day. This
charge continues until the book is returned or renewed. The charges are:

• Adult 18+: 35p per book, per day
• Young Adults 11-18: 5p per book, per day
• Children 5+: 5p per book, per day
• Children Under 5: No Charge

If you register an email address with Northamptonshire libraries, we will send you an
email with notifications when your books are about to be overdue (pre-overdue
notice) and when they are overdue. Notifications will also be sent by email when
reserved items have arrived in the library. Please note that this is an automated
service and cannot be solely relied upon for making sure that no charges are
incurred on your account.

Hire Charges

Language Courses: £1.50 per 3 weeks, for a single course
£3.50 per 3 weeks, for a multi-part course

Audio Books: Adults – £1.80 for each set, per 3 weeks
Childrens – 80p for each set, per 3 weeks

Story Sacks £1.00 per week for a story sack

Requests

Adults18+: £1.50 per request
Children and Young No charge to order items held in stock by
Adults 11-18: Northamptonshire Libraries

Concessions

No charges are made to people using the Library Outreach Service, including those
in residential homes, hospitals or hospices, and the terminally ill.
No charges are made for audio books for reading impaired borrowers including
those with dyslexia.
